Basic of Mouse Click

After reading this article, you don't need to worry about having single button mouse.

Mouse plays important role in using Mac, really. Knowing the basic of using mouse will improve our productivity with Mac. With this little knowledge of mine, I will try my best to share my knowledge on mouse's basic moves.

Select Item

  1. Click : Select item
  2. Click & Drag : Create selection area; All items under this area will be selected
  3. Command-Click or Shift-Click : Add (or remove) selected items
  4. Click on Empty Area : Deselect all items

Open Item

  1. DoubleClick : Open item
  2. Command-DoubleClick : Open item in new window
  3. Option-DoubleClick : Open item in another item
  4. Option-Click : Open all selected items
  5. Click & Drag into Application Icon : Open items with that Application

Execute Action

  1. Click on Dock Icon : Launch Item
  2. Click on Button : Execute button's action
  3. Option-ClickButton : Execute button's action that apply for other similar item

Special Ability

  1. Control-Click : Bring up menu
  2. Option-ClickFinder : Go to Finder and hide current window
  3. Command-Option-Click on Dock icon : Open that item and hide other windows
  4. Shift-Click on minimize button : Slow motion effect
  5. Option-Click&Drag : Duplicate item
  6. Command-Option-Click&Drag : Make an alias of item
  7. Spacebar while dragging item into folder : Immediately open that folder
