Ways to Create Alias

Alias is like a windows way of saying "shortcut", i.e. it links to target address. As far as I know, there are 4 ways to make alias for Mac.

Contextual Menu

  1. Highlight the object(s)
  2. Control-Click on object (any can do)
  3. Choose from the pop-up menu Make Alias
  4. New alias object will appear in no time

Mouse Dragging

  1. Highlight the object(s)
  2. Drag the object(s) with Command-Option pressed down
  3. Arrow will likely to appear at the left bottom corner of the dragged object(s)
  4. Drop anywhere suitable to create the alias

Menu Bar

  1. Highlight the object(s)
  2. Jump to Apple menu bar, i.e. Command-Slash
  3. Go under File tab (File)
  4. Select the Make Alias action (Make Alias)

Keystrokes

  1. Highlight the object(s)
  2. Hit the Command-L and the alias will appear

It's obvious right what to choose. But I still list down all the make of alias ways, so you can choose according to your preference. Have fun with your Mac.
