Comment and Win: TranslateIt! for Mac

When I'm exposed to the chance of learning new language, I feel extremely excited, really. And I feel even more excited when the developer of a program called TranslateIt! approached me, stating that he really loves to share us some free license keys for 4 months.

The Lucky Draw

As usual, the winner will be decided with lucky draw. This time it's quite different, the quality of your comments will determine how much chance you will have during the lucky draw.

Anyway, you can put your comment with any languages, I got TranslateIt! here, I can translate your comment to the language that I am familiar with… :)

The comment box will be closed on 20th October 2008, one week after the Contest to Win Duplicate Image Detector. The result will be announced soon after that.

TranslateIt!

Unlike our Mac built-in Dictionary, TranslateIt! provides us with wider range of language selection. There are also some other interesting features on TranslateIt!, such as:

  1. Look up words anywhere, anytime by just "touching" the word. This feature also can be customized to translate the word by using defined keystrokes as what you did with your Dictionary.
  2. Text translate to everything. You can Double-Click on any word on the TranslateIt! Dictionary to get it translated again.

  3. He/she/it can speak! Not a really astonishing achievement for Mac, but it's quite remarkable.

  4. TranslateIt! Online which can translate better and much easier than Google language tools, it can help you auto-detect the language need to be translated.

  5. Word Quiz to test your built-in memory whether it's working properly or it's getting rusty already. Anyway, before starting the quiz, you're required to put some words into the history (keystrokes Command-Control-Return).

This sounds much easier than using a desktop widget to translate words from webpages.

Kan den også oversætte fra dansk?
Nå, men de er da helt klart et program jeg skal have fat i, når jeg får min Macbook Pro. :)

what a great app... at last I would be able to begin to communicate with so many people... especially when asking questions of non-English speaking eBay seller... will Finnish be made available at some point?

Mit diesem netten Programm wäre es um einiges einfacher, hier Kommentare zu hinterlassen, und nicht immer mit falschem Englisch um mich zu werfen :D

With this nice app it would be much easier to leave comments here instead of using wrong english all the time :)

This program looks much better than the default Dictionary. I hope it works well in Firefox because Dictionary does not. I had a similar app when I was on Windows called Babylon and I loved it :-)

Can it translate to dutch?? P.s. sorry about translation i used that widget

Dit kijkt ontzagwekkend, denk ik het een partij met die cryptische berichten zou helpen die ik van tijd tot tijd ben geworden

It seems the authors have done a great job here.

I use translaters on sites like Trekearth, to try to help folk understand comments or give help with their photos.

I know the Translator widget built into the Mac gives some weird results at times and only translates a bit at a time. It would be excellent to have a tool that does a bit more and spreads a bit of understanding through different culture.

It's good day to find such a software in mac. Translateit do help me to translate many
"unknown" to the word i known. And the easy download of the different kinds dictionary is also a great features for me. But the most awesome one, must be the instant translate of on-screen words, that helps me read articles without obstacles :)
