Adium is a Mac instant messanging application. You can grab this application here. Not only for me, these several reasons will also make you fall in love with Adium.
1. Connecting People
In real world, these words most suit Nokie. But in virtual world, I think these words make more sense to be gifted to Adium. Using Adium, you can connect to almost every instant messaging users.
2. Half the Price Free!
I love free stuffs and I am sure that you will love them too; Free downloadable Adium won't be an exceptional for me and for you.
3. No Nudge…
When you have lorry of fans nagging, nudging, disturbing your peaceful time surfing the web and forcing you to quit your instant messenger, you will probably need to block them from viewing you. And here comes this cute feature called Block Yell.
With nudge-block feature of Adium, you don't need to worry about those nudge spammers.
Update: Using Adium, we don't need to install that horrible block yell plugin. Sorry for my mistake to put the link before. It's now removed, thanks for the feedbacks.
I think those three reasons are sufficient enough to get you falling in love with Adium, don't you think so?

I use it ever since i have a mac. They just added the facebook chat in it. it works just fine. They keep maintaining it. No language problems neither (eng/jap/fr/heb/kor for what i tried) I don't miss the old PC versions.

do not use block yell it is phishing, search for it on google. All normal browsers block this page!

Hello, ADIUMX Shocking has no support for IRC, my company has main communication (on live incidents ) worked on IRC And i am forced to use colloguy but wish adiumx implements this ASAP. i know there is small code in svn which needs to be compiled but i cant afford time to do that. best regards, Anshuman Gholap

Adium is like a Pidgin mac port. I adium's UI is even much better than Pidgin's. While the problem is it might be perfect for text chat, but not for voice/video and file transfer. And whenever there is a bug with Pidgin, u will find it in Adium. Recently, I found a bug with Pidgin and it does exist in Adium 1.3. Check the defect here: http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/6527
