Preview - PDF Slideshow

There are reasons why Preview most likely to be used by people.

Dock - Adding Icons with Dockables

These are not regular icons.

These icons can help you do these things :
  • Close All Applications
  • Hide All Applications
  • Restart Your Mac
  • Display Sleep
  • Eject the CD-ROM / DVD-ROM
  • Log Out
  • Capture Screen
  • Put Your Mac into Sleep
  • Empty Trash
  • Mute Sound
  • Shut Down
  • Start Screen Saver

Adium - Change Dock Icon

  1. Go under Adium Preference Pane. You can find it by clicking the Adium text beside the apple or by using keyboard shortcut Command-[ ,].
  2. And then under the Appearance Tab, search for something called Dock Icon.
  3. Go under Adium Preference Pane. You can find it by clicking the Adium text beside the apple or by using keyboard shortcut Command-[ ,].
  4. And then under the Appearance Tab, search for something called Dock Icon.
  5. There is a lot of Dock Icons you can choose. Pull Down Menu and Show All… Button contain the same icon.
  6. For better speed, use Pull Down Menu
  7. However, you can use Show All... Button for wider scope

Croppin' Image with Preview

The most powerful and useful feature Cropping Image. Actually everyone will know how to use this application. It's quite nice and easy to understand. In case you do not know, I will tell you.

Sometimes you need a particular part of your image, not the whole of your image. Here you need to crop your image.

Let me tell you the most useful feature in here, you can adjust your cropping area (usually rectangle) by moving its edge (similar to photoshop free transform selection). Nice right?

Quickness or Accuracy - QuickSilver or Spotlight

QuickSilver as reflects by its name, is the fastest application searching for Mac. But, its quickness affect its user too. Its user must have ability to quickly key in all the keywords required to open specific files (or they have to replay it all over).

In contradiction to Spotlight, one of the searching application in Mac. Spotlight can search everything you want, but not with the same quickness as QuickSilver. It always returns everything.

Which one do you prefer?

When searching for application, I prefer using QuickSilver. As I have experienced before, QuickSilver always returns apps that I want. Different from Spotlight that give me lots of result, it slows me down to look at what I want first.
